Doctor's Appt -- 14 Weeks

Melissa and I went in for her monthly doctors appointment on Monday. It proved to be a pretty uneventful appointment which is ok because at this point "no news is good news." The baby continues to grow at an acceptable pace and Melissa is just now starting to get a little baby bump. On Monday we were able to hear the heart beat through a machine placed on the outside of Melissa's stomach. That was exciting because up to this point everything we have seen or heard of the baby had been through intrusive procedures by the doctor. The heart rate came in at an acceptable 152 beats per minute.

Within the next week we will be scheduling our next doctor's appointment. It will likely be the week between Christmas and New Years. If all goes well and the baby cooperates, we will be able to find out if we are having a boy or girl at this appointment. Our doctor asked us if we had any guesses as to whether we were having a boy or girl.....and we really don't. She (Dr. Klein) said that she had a guess and proceeded to tell us that she is predicting that we will have a girl. She did explain that it was simply a guess and was not based on an ultrasound or any other medical information, however, even guesses seem like fact when coming from someone in a white doctors coat.

We have slowly started shopping for the baby's nursery. We are blessed to have parent's that are already spoiling their grandchild by buying some of the large pieces of furniture. Melissa's dad and mom ordered our crib last week and my parents bought us a rocking chair this past weekend. As these purchases are made and doctors appointments are attended, becoming a parent becomes more and more of a reality, and we can't wait!!

That's it for now......
