Baptism and Misc. August Pictures
Jordan was baptised on August 8 at First Byron CRC. It was a wonderful event for our entire family. Following the baptism, we had everyone over for lunch. Jordan did a good job during the baptism. He made a little bit of noise at first, but after the congregation sang a couple hymns, he fell right asleep. He remained asleep until the water was place on his forehead at which time his eyes suddenly open wide. He appeared to be a little confused over the fact that he was having water put on him while not in his bathtub.
We are now half way through August. Melissa went back to work on August 9, so we are attempting to get Jordan into a little bit more of a routine. He is doing better at night but continues to be a bit inconsitent. Overall, we are very pleased with how he is developing and love the little guy more and more everyday.
The whole baptism thing wore Jordan out.

7 Weeks have passed......
It's hard to believe seven weeks have already passed. Jordan continues to grow and explore the world around him (all with his eyes at this point). He will have his next doctor's checkup on July 22. We look forward to finding out what his measurements are. We have been getting SOME sleep at night. Jordan really isn't on a sleep schedule at this point, he has some good nights and some bad. Overall, he has been an incredible blessing and welcome addition to our home. We can't wait to see what the next couple months have in store for us.

Welcome to the family Jordan Edward Bussa!
On May 22, 2010 at 12:41 PM Melissa and I welcomed our firstborn son into the world. Jordan Edward was born 6 lbs 9 ounces and 17 inches in length. It is difficult to even put into words how excited Melissa and I are.
Melissa and I left for the hospital at 4:30 AM after Melissa woke up to find that her water had broke. The doctors determined that the baby was facing the wrong direction and if he remained that way labor would take a lot longer. After a few "bed gymnastics" the baby turned himself around and the labor process kicked into high gear immediately.
At 12:24 PM Melissa was asked to start pushing during contractions. It only took 17 minutes of pushing to bring Jordan into the world. Dr. Wolfe delivered Jordan at 12:41 PM. Melissa did an amazing job through out the whole process and made me a very proud husband and father.
The first 24 hours after Jordan's birth were spent gathering information from the doctors/nurses and most of all bonding with our son. We had many visitors, most notably Jordan's Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles all made it to the hospital to visit. He is a very welcomed addition to the entire family.

Getting Closer......
Melissa and I are really excited to welcome Jordan into the world which explains why time has now slowed to a crawl. We will be using the next 5-6 weeks to enjoy the freedom of being able to come and go as we please without any planning what so ever ( I've been told that this freedom goes away when the baby shows up).
We had a couple events that went on this past week...... a group of friends hosted a shower for Melissa and we both participated in a labor education course at the hospital. The class was very educational and probably the best part was the fact that I did not get light headed during the live birth videos. This may only be a small victory for me in my battle against passing out during Melissa's labor, but I'll take it. :)
Overall, we are thrilled with how things are progressing and continue to be very thankful for the love and support we have received from both family and friends.

31 Weeks and Counting.......
Time continues to fly by......though that is easy for me (Matt) to say. I spend nearly every waking hour at the office this time of year and don't have to battle all the aches and pains that come with having a baby develop inside of me. With that being said, time is not exactly "flying" for Melissa but she is doing well and in good spirits. She has her first baby shower this weekend and is excited to celebrate with family and friends. We continue to be blessed if not spoiled by our parents who bought us the stroller and carseat in the picture below.
A co-worker and friend of mine just gave birth to a healthy baby girl this week and we are so excited for Nicole and Kyle. This delivery also really got Melissa and I thinking, we better be ready for this event to happen at any time. Nicole gave birth to her daughter at approximately 33 weeks, so it has become very clear to me that Jordan will show up on his own time rather than at a time that we are able to have all planned out.

27 Weeks
We've made it past the 27 week mark and keep pushing ahead towards May. We had a doctors appointment on Monday which involved a 4D ultrasound. I have included one of the images our doctor provided us. It was very exciting to watch as the doctor measured and identified areas of the heart, brain and bone structure. The doctor estimates that he now weighs approximately 2.5lbs. We don't anticipate having any more 4D ultrasounds but we greatly enjoyed the one we had.
As you can see by the other pictures included with this post, we continue to work on filling and decorating the nursery. We have also agreed on a name for our son which is now displayed on the nursery wall. Jordan Edward Bussa is his name and we couldn't be happier about it. The middle name Edward has been in the Bussa family for several generations. We know for sure that I (Matt), my father, grandfather and great grand-father all share this middle name (we might be researching to see if it goes back further than that). We thought it was only fitting to continue this tradition with our first born son.

Nursery -- Sneak Peak
The month of May is still a few calendar pages away, but Melissa and I are starting to prepare for the arrival of our little guy. We have slowly started accumulating some of the necessities including the crib and glider pictured. We are several purchases away from a full functioning nursery, but it sure has been fun to start the process. In other news, Melissa had a check up this week and the baby is doing well. The heart beat came in at 142 beats per minute and he is now measuring approximately 1 foot in length. Melissa reported that our little guy had his first bout with the hiccups the other day which our doctor said we can expect much more of. Tracking his growth from week to week and month to month has been alot of fun for both Melissa and myself. This whole process is truly miraculous.

It's a Boy!
Melissa and I found out on December 30 that our firstborn will be a boy. An ultrasound was performed and lasted approximately 45 minutes. After only 3-5 minutes the technician was able to tell it was a boy. Our son was far from bashful which made it very easy for the doctor to identify him as a boy. The technician said that she would be willing to bet her job that this one is a boy and we shouldn't have any unexpected surprises when the little one is actually born.
A full anatomy scan and measurement was also performed. All the measurements came back normal and he was put into the 68th percentile of growth at this point in his development. As in the past, he was very active during the ultrasound. The due date was moved up a few days based upon his development. The due date is now May 26.
